Pure Grain Audio Names “Crash” One of Best Books of 2018
I’ve been a fan of Pure Grain Audio for a while now, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to find out that writer Darren Paltrowitz reviewed my book Crash. For those of you who haven’t gotten a chance to check out his review, I wanted to take a few minutes to summarize it here.
Paltrowitz starts out with an observation that far too many books are written by people who don’t actually have expertise in the subject they’re writing about. I was honored to hear him point out that one of his favorite things about Crash was that it was based in truly qualified experience on the part of the author (yours truly).
He then went on to give a nice thumbnail description of the book as the definitive illustrated history of the drum kits of rock ‘n’ roll legends. He described the book’s vibrant images of live concerts, outdoor festivals, and private recording sessions, along with the way it captures the personal connection that drummers have with their instruments. He also remarks on his own appreciation of the great musicians featured in the book, namely Neil Peart, Carl Palmer, Ginger Baker, Keith Moon, and Ringo Starr.
More than anything, what I feel I was put on this earth to do is to teach, which is why I was so pleased when Paltrowitz wrote about how much he learned from Crash. I was honored when he called my book one of his favorites of 2018. If you’re reading this, I’d like to tell you that when it comes to your site the feeling is mutual.
