Robyn Flans spent 30 years as a journalist interviewing hundreds of the best drummers in the business such as Vinnie Colaiuta, Jim Keltner, Jeff Porcaro, and more. She now has a YouTube channel that features both classic and new interviews with a handful of accomplished musicians.

Last year, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to speak with Robyn about my drum museum: Hit The Dec: The Drum Experience Center (DEC). It’s a part of the Frangioni Foundation, my non-profit devoted to music, motivation, and mentoring for children.

In the interview, Robyn and I unpack some of the famous drum kits on display, including pieces from Carl Palmer and Sammy Davis Jr to name a few. We also discuss how and why this collection became the official location for the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame.
