Six more pieces from Clint Eastwood films in my collection go to auction with Hanlin on November 6 and 7, 2026. They span five decades of his work, from the 1969 musical Paint Your Wagon to Sully in 2016, and include John Malkovich’s assassin gun from In the Line of Fire with its designer’s full production archive.

In the Line of Fire (1993): Mitch Leary’s Composite Gun

In Wolfgang Petersen’s thriller, Eastwood plays Secret Service agent Frank Horrigan, and John Malkovich plays Mitch Leary, the assassin who builds a gun from composite parts so it can pass through metal detectors. Leary assembles it under a table at the President’s hotel, with the springs hidden in a pen and the ammunition in a rabbit’s foot keychain. The gun is the device the whole plot turns on.

Lot 182 is the original static resin gun, made of individual resin parts with metal springs. What sets it apart is the archive that comes with it: weapon designer Frank Rousseau’s production file, with technical drawings, letters and receipts documenting how the gun was developed and built. It all comes in its original wooden case. A screen prop with that level of paper trail is what serious collectors look for.

Paint Your Wagon (1969): A Gift From Eastwood on Set

Eastwood played Pardner opposite Lee Marvin in the Lerner and Loewe musical, and he sang his own songs. This suede pouch of prop “gold” came from a woman who visited the Baker, Oregon set in the summer of 1968, where Eastwood gave it to her as a souvenir. It has been offered before by Heritage Auctions. Lot 255.

Absolute Power (1997): Luther Whitney’s Passport Photos

Eastwood produced, directed and starred in Absolute Power as Luther Whitney, a master thief who witnesses a crime involving the President. These are the prop passport photos of Eastwood in character that Whitney uses to stay a step ahead. Lot 6.

American Sniper (2014): Chris Kyle’s Vest and a Squad Rifle

American Sniper became the biggest box office hit Eastwood ever directed. Lot 21 is the tactical vest rig worn by Bradley Cooper as Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, the role that earned him an Academy Award nomination. Lot 20 is a stunt M4A1 carbine carried by Brian Hallisay as Captain Gillespie.

Sully (2016): The NTSB File

Eastwood directed Tom Hanks as Captain Chesley Sullenberger in the story of US Airways Flight 1549 and the investigation that followed the landing on the Hudson. The NTSB investigation drives the film’s drama, and this is an original aviation safety file used in production. Lot 403.

Why I Collected These

My Eastwood collection has always followed the whole arc of his career, as an actor and as a director, and that is the scope of my books Clint Eastwood: ICON (Insight Editions, 2009) and the Revised and Expanded Edition (2018). These six lots cover that range in one sale, and several are at estimates that make a first Eastwood piece realistic for a new collector.
